this body of work grows from sea glass collected on beaches across europe. shards once discarded, then reshaped by tide and salt. i treat each piece as a precious amulet; a vessel holding time and transformation. eventually suspended in space, the glowing glass will catch and bend the light moving through it.
more recently, i have also delved into the world of nooks and crannies. hiding smaller pieces of glass in an attempt to delay gratification in the viewer who must search for the work... much like sifting through the pebbles on a beach.
ultimately, this project was born out of travelling for a year and needing to busy my hands, after being away from the studio for so long. by following my childlike instinct to search for treasure, it acts as a reminder to question, and search for more than what initially meets the eye. to absorb what is around us, and to rediscover the wonder of tiny beautiful things.
